Doctors Richard and Angie Prather have been the owners of the practice since 1990. They have dedicated their life to giving their clients and patients the best care possible.
Ellis County Animal Hospital has a long standing history in Shattuck. The building first opened it's doors in 1973 under the care of Dr. John Kirpatrick.

Dr. Richard Prather
Owner
Graduate of Oklahoma State University, Stillwater OK, in 1986. Dr. Richard worked to become the co-owner of the practice in 1990. He has been dedicated to providing superior treatment to his patients which is why in 2004 he was named Food Animal Practitioner of the Year.

Dr. Angie Prather
Owner
Graduate of Oklahoma State University, Stillwater OK, in 1987. Dr. Angie worked to become co-owner of the practice in 1990. Her dedication to the small animal clients is well known and her genuine laugh keeps everyone in high spirits at the practice.

Dr. Madison Engelbarts
Associate Veterinarian
Graduate of Kansas State University, Manhattan KS, in 2025. Dr. Madison has a wide range of experience with both large and small animal patients. She has cattle, horses and dogs at home which gives her a versatile understanding of our clients needs.

Dr. Lyric Garner
Associate Veterinarian
Graduate of Texas Tech University, Amarillo TX, in 2025. Dr. Lyric has a well versed background with both large and small animal patients. She has cattle and dogs at home which has provided her with firsthand knowledge for our patients.

Joni Bagwell
Receptionist
Joni started with the practice in 2024 and has been a great addition to our team. She has years of experience working in office settings and brings excellent multitasking skills with her. Joni is one of our friendly faces you'll meet when you walk in the door!

Kailey Sanders
Receptionist
Kailey started with the practice in 2020 and is one of the smiling faces you see when you walk in! Kailey's family has had a variety of livestock and she herself has both dogs and horses so she brings well rounded knowledge to the table when assisting clients.

Amelia Adams RVT
Registered Veterinary Technician - Extern Coordinator
Graduate of the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture, Curtis NE, in 2012 with an Associates degree in Veterinary Technology Systems with a minor in Agriculture Productions Equine. Amelia has been with the practice since 2012. She brings great expertise for animal care to our practice and extends the veterinarians capabilities tremendously.

Kacie Priest RVT
Registered Veterinary Technician
Graduate of OSU-OKC, in 2019 with an Associates degree in Veterinary Technology. Kacie started with the practice in 2018 and has brought extra compassion for our feline patients. Her family has cattle and horses, but her passion is for exotic animals. Kacie is a great asset to the practice because of her love for several species and exemplary patient care.

Michael Adams
Large Animal Assistant - Bovine Breeding Associate

Graduate of Oklahoma Panhandle State University, in 2013 with a Bachelors degree in Agronomy with a minor in Animal Science. He has also received training from Agtech, Inc. over Cattle Embryo Transfer. Michael is well versed in the technical care that the practice offers, but his primary focus has been aiding producers with implementing breeding programs fit for their needs. Michael has been a great addition the practice and has been assisting with large animal care since 2014.

Julie Wayland
Large Animal Assistant
Julie has been part time with the practice for several years. She has years of experience with cattle and horses thanks to her family's history in the ranching business. She is also well versed with our small animal patients and enjoys floating wherever help is needed.

Kacie Eicholtz
Large Animal Assistant
Kacie has a long history of equine and cattle management. She is well versed with daily and specialized care making her a great asset to the large animal care team. Kacie has been with the clinic since 2025.
