Doctors Richard and Angie Prather have been the owners of the practice since 1990. They have dedicated their life to giving their clients and patients the best care possible.
Ellis County Animal Hospital has a long standing history in Shattuck. The building first opened it's doors in 1973 under the care of Dr. John Kirpatrick.
Dr. Richard Prather
Graduate of Oklahoma State University, Stillwater OK, in 1986 with his DVM and worked to become the co-owner of the practice in 1990. Dr. Richard has been dedicated to providing superior treatment to his patients which is why in 2004 he was named Food Animal Practitioner of the Year.
Dr. Angie Prather
Graduate of Oklahoma State University, Stillwater OK, in 1987 with her DVM and worked to become co-owner of the practice in 1990. Dr. Angie's dedication to the small animal clients is well known and her genuine laugh keeps everyone in high spirits at the practice.
Dr.Nicholas "Nick" Shen
Graduate of Arizona State University, Tempe AZ, with a Masters of Science in Management and Lincoln Memorial University, Harrogate TN, in 2020 with a DVM. Dr. Nick's passion for veterinary medicine has made him a great addition to the practice. He is interested in several species ranging from small to large.
Kailey is attending NWOSU and working full time. She started with the practice in 2020 and is the smiling face you see when you walk in! Kailey's family has livestock and she herself has a few dogs so she brings well rounded knowledge to the table when assisting clients.
Large Animal Assistant
Graduate of Oklahoma Panhandle State University, Goodwell OK, in 2013 with a Bachelors degree in Agronomy with a minor in Animal Science. Michael is well versed in the technical care that the practice offers. From cattle artificial insemination to aiding with radiographs, Michael has been a great addition the practice for assisting with large animal care since 2014.
Graduate of Universidad Autonoma Agraria Antonio Narro- Unidad Laguna, Mexico, in 2006. Delmar has been with the practice since 2015. Delmar's skill set with cattle artificial insemination and embryo transfer has made him a great addition to our breeding program. He also assists with many technical aspects of large animal care at the clinic.
Amelia Adams RVT
Registered Veterinary Technician
Graduate of the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture, Curtis NE, in 2012 with an Associates degree in Veterinary Technology Systems with a minor in Agriculture Productions Equine. Amelia has been with the practice since 2012. She brings great expertise for animal care to our practice and extends the veterinarians capabilities tremendously. Amelia and Kacie are currently the only Registered Veterinary Technicians in the neighboring 5 counties.
Kacie Priest RVT
Registered Veterinary Technician
Graduate of OSU-OKC, in 2019 with an Associates degree in Veterinary Technology. Kacie started with the practice in 2018 and has brought extra compassion towards our feline patients. You might see Kacie with a large or small patient as she is great with all sizes of animals making her a great asset to both our large and small animal cases.
